GREEN RIDGE

After this residence was burned down by wildfire, we planted native plants for biodiversity mixed in with succulents and cacti for extra fire resilience. The cantilevered second floor created a perfect space for the outdoor room on our green ridge project in Big Sur. The sculptural screen is made from a metal water tank left over after the wildfire. Local artist, Jesse Hamilton, carefully cut and welded the pieces together with leftover rebar, leaving the manhole for a window into the garden. Local stone and gravel and MOSO Bamboo decking help lower the embodied carbon of the project.
