The site is epic. Perched on a promontory overlooking Garrapata Beach. An old cabin stood where a new modern residence was added. The landscape interventions for the young family aimed to be simple, artistic and local. Redwood salvaged from a fire down the road created the stairs and benches. transplanted purple needle grass and local sedges added to the native meadow garden. Camping spots were carved from old water tank locations. Boulders replaced the rotting rail road tie retaining walls. This simplicity lets the rustic beauty of the place shine.
